The name of our boutique hotel goes all the way back to 1900 when the original Hotel Tarrymore was built as a resort on Wrightsville Beach. The all wood structure was the first of its kind anywhere on the North Carolina shore and was complete with electricity and hot and cold plumbing at a time when few residents of the state had such luxuries. In 1907 another wing was added to the hotel at the beach and its name was changed to The Oceanic. Unfortunately, the entire structure burned to the ground in 1930 and all that remains now are a few scarce photographs and aging postcards. That original hotel building on the beach bore an uncanny resemblance to today's Hotel Tarrymore structure in downtown Wilmington and served as the inspiration for its current owner to purchase the property in 2009 and immediately begin renovations.
Today, Hotel Tarrymore serves as historic Wilmington's only boutique hotel complete with a fine dining restaurant and elegant ballroom. Each of the eight newly renovated suites are complete apartment-sized spaces with separate bedrooms and private baths as well as fully appointed professional style kitchens with granite counter tops. Half of our suites adjoin the Cape Fear Atrium, a private space with a 20 foot ceiling and perfect for pre-dinner cocktails, family gatherings, or simply relaxing after dinner or your Sunday brunch. All suites have plenty of rocking chairs on the open air balconies with views of cobblestone streets, historic homes and horse drawn carriages.

"Wilmington is our home and we want our guests to feel at home when they stay with us."
Parking and Getting Around Downtown
The City of Wilmington allows free parking on the streets in front of our hotel from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. each day and free parking all day every Sunday. Three large city parking facilities are located less than one block away from the Hotel for a daily fee ranging from $5.00 to $7.00 per day. Like most downtown businesses our hotel and restaurant does not own private parking. All guests are responsible for their own parking.
The City also provides a free trolley system that stops about 200 feet from our front door and operates from 7:31 am - 9:01 pm Monday through Friday, 11:01 am - 9:01 pm on Saturday and 11:01 am – 5:41pm on Sunday.
